138718 - Reduced-Order Discharge Area Surrogate Model of Claw-Shaped Notch Hydraulic Spool Valve
Abstract:
The non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), e.g., loader and tractor, is in urgent demand for energy conservation. As the core element of the NRMM, the hydraulic spool valve has a noticeable pressure drop across the valve port under the condition of high pressure and great flow rate, especially with high-order notches, which causes large pump energy losses through heat dissipation. At present, lacking relevant studies of the coupling relationship between high-order notch structure and pressure drop leads to design challenges in optimizing notch matching scheme. To obtain in-depth understanding of the high-order notch optimization problem, this paper introduces a reduced-order discharge area surrogate model (RO-DASM) for claw-shaped notch (CSN) hydraulic spool valves based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis and Kriging model. This RO-DASM model is used exclusively to predict the flow rate-pressure drop (FR-PD) characteristics of the CSN hydraulic spool valve under the ultimate saturation flow rate condition. CFD results indicate that the raised RO-DASM model achieves a credible forecast for pressure drop with an average relative deviation below 5% under the flow rate of 250, 350, and 450 L/min. The suggested model realizes the approximate expression of the CSN effectively and may be operated to various types of high-order notches flexiblely.
